I’m Just Tired
Ask yourself how many times you have replied when asked how you are with “tired.” Now think about how many times you said you were tired but what you actually meant was that you are not okay. Is it more often than you thought?
After reading a post about this a few months ago it really hit home how much “tired” is used in replace of “I’m not okay.” I’m guilty of it and I know Jay is as well. We seem to live in a society where being tired is okay but not being okay isn’t. So we use different words to avoid addressing the problem when asked as we don’t want to look like we are weak and being tired from busy means we are doing well at life doesn’t it?
Tired But Tryin’
For many of us mental health is so taxing on the body we feel like we are chronically tired and many days are spent just trying to make it through to the next. There is no shame in that. As long as you are trying that’s all that matters.
We want this shirt to start conversations and to create a way to talk about how you are really feeling. You shouldn’t have to use code words to hide the fact that you are not feeling 100%. Next time someone asks you how you are and your reply is “tired” have a serious think about how you are really feeling and if you are more than just tired please don’t be afraid to have an open conversation about it.
Can you relate or want to share your story?
